Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

Be non‑Korean citizens or overseas Koreans educated abroad

Be enrolled in (or have completed coursework for) a master’s or doctoral program at a non‑Korean university

Propose a research topic firmly rooted in Korean studies

Demonstrate proficiency in Korean or English (preferred, not mandatory)

All materials must be in English or Korean; notarized translations required for other languages.

Fellow Obligations

Enroll in ≥ 1 academic course or design an independent study

Collaborate with a designated AKS faculty advisor

Reside in South Korea for the fellowship’s full six months

Submit a final research report/thesis (min. 5,000 words in English)

Present findings at an AKS‑hosted seminar

Provide entry/exit certificates upon departure

Failure to comply may result in funding cancellation and reimbursement obligations.
