DAAD Alfried Krupp Fellowships In Germany 2026 (Fully Funded)

Are you seeking a prestigious German research fellowship for interdisciplinary Baltic Sea studies? The Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald invites applications for its Alfried Krupp Senior and Junior Fellowships 2026/27, offering up to six Senior Fellowships and eight Junior Fellowships. Nestled in the historic Hanseatic city of Greifswald near the Baltic Sea, the Kolleg provides fully funded residential fellowships in Germany that enable researchers to focus entirely on major scientific projects, free from teaching and administrative duties.

Established by the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation, the Kolleg strengthens excellence in interdisciplinary research at the University of Greifswald. In 2026/27, fellows will delve into “Interdisciplinary Research into the Baltic Sea Region – from Culture to Ecology”, though applications from all disciplines are welcome. Who Can Apply?

Senior Fellowships: Outstanding academics with a proven track record in research and teaching.

Junior Fellowships: Newly minted PhD holders demonstrating exceptional research potential.

Total Awards: 14 (6 Senior, 8 Junior)

Fellowship Duration

  • 6 or 12 months
    • Semester: 1 Oct–31 Mar or 1 Apr–30 Sep
    • Full Academic Year: 1 Oct–30 Sep

Co‑Financing Opportunities

Senior Fellows: Encouraged to combine a home‑institution research semester with a six‑month stay, including possible home institution funding contributions.

Junior Fellows: Typically on leave from their home institution; any institutional contributions are welcome.
