Categories of Applicants & Scholarship Duration

The Beijing Government Scholarship supports different categories of international students and scholars:

1. Degree Students

Excellent international students pursuing degree programs at Beijing HEIs:

Duration: Up to 4 academic years
Levels: Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD

2. Chinese Language Students & Senior Scholars

Duration: Up to 1 academic year

3. General Scholars

Duration: Up to 1 academic year

4. Exchange Students & Students with Special Contributions

Duration: Up to 1 academic year

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Must be non-Chinese citizens and in good physical and mental health
Must not be a recipient of the Chinese Government Scholarship at the same time

Age & Academic Requirements by Program

PhD Program:
- Master’s degree required
- Under 40 years of age
Master’s Program:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Under 35 years of age
Bachelor’s Program:
- Senior high school diploma with good academic performance
- Under 30 years of age
General Scholar Program:
- Bachelor’s degree or at least two years of undergraduate study
- Under 50 years of age
Long-term Chinese Language Program:
- Senior high school diploma
- Under 60 years of age
Senior Scholar Program:
- Master’s degree or above, or academic title of associate professor or higher
- Under 50 years of age
Applicants must meet the language requirements set by the target university
