The Minzu University of China (MUC) offers an exceptional scholarship program for international students aiming to pursue postgraduate studies. Ⅰ. Program Categories, Study Duration, and Language of Instruction

This scholarship supports postgraduate programs.
The study duration is 2-3 years for master’s programs and 4 years for doctoral programs.
Most postgraduate programs are taught in Chinese, but some master’s programs are available in English.

Ⅲ. Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China and be in good health.

Hold a bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35 when applying for master’s programs.

Hold a master’s degree and be under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs.

Ⅳ. Scholarship Coverage

The scholarship includes:

Tuition waiver.
Free on-campus accommodation or accommodation subsidy.
Stipend:
- Master’s students: CNY 3,000 per month.
- Doctoral students: CNY 3,500 per month.
Comprehensive Medical Insurance: CNY 800/person/year.

Ⅴ. Application Procedure and Documents

Application Procedure:

Apply the CSC Online Application System for Study in China (link), and download the Application Form for the Chinese Government Scholarship. The agency number for Minzu University of China is 10052. The scholarship for the Chinese University Program is Type B in the CSC system.

Log in to the MUC Online Application System for International Students (link), complete the online application, and upload the required materials.

Application Documents:

Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in Chinese or English).

Notarized highest diploma: Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status from their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be accompanied by notarized Chinese or English translations.

Academic transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards): Copies of academic records from the first to the last semester of undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programs (if any). These transcripts must be issued and sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English but must be accompanied by notarized English translations if in other languages.

A study plan or research proposal (in Chinese or English): Master’s program applicants should write at least 1,000 words. Doctoral program applicants should write at least 1,500 words. The proposal for doctoral students must be signed by the applicant’s Chinese supervisor (refer to the attachments).

Two letters of recommendation: Doctoral students need two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors. Master’s students need two letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors. These letters should describe the applicant’s objectives for studying in China, comprehensive abilities, and potential for future growth, as well as details about the cooperation between supervisors or exchanges between universities in China and abroad.

Language qualification certificates: Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must provide an HSK certificate of level 4 or above. Applicants for English-taught programs must provide proof of English language proficiency, such as valid IELTS/TOEFL test reports or other certificates recognized by MUC.

Foreigner Physical Examination Form: The physical examination must cover all items listed in the form. Incomplete forms or forms without the attending physician’s signature, the hospital’s official stamp, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered invalid. Plan your physical examination carefully, as the result is valid for only 6 months. The template is available in the attachments (refer to the attachments).

Copy of the first page of the passport: If the current passport expires before September 30, 2025, please apply for a new passport before applying.

Non-Criminal Record Report: Submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months before the application submission date.

Individual works: Applicants for arts or design programs must provide their works (such as videos and paintings) via the online application system.

Supervisor Acceptance Letter (if any): This letter should include information about a prospective supervisor from the Minzu University of China, descriptions of the applicant’s studies or research in China, etc. (refer to the attachments).
