The Indigenous Fellowship Programme (IFP) 2026, established by the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in 1997, offers a fully funded human rights training for Indigenous leaders worldwide. Designed during the first International Decade of the World’s Indigenous People, this intensive four-week fellowship in Geneva immerses participants in the UN human rights system, enhancing their capacity to protect and promote Indigenous rights at home. Delivered in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese—with simultaneous interpretation—the IFP aligns with the annual session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, ensuring fellows engage directly with high‐level UN processes.
By participating in the IFP’s comprehensive curriculum, Indigenous changemakers gain practical knowledge of international human rights mechanisms, learn advocacy strategies, and build a global network of Indigenous experts. Upon returning home, fellows commit to training peers in their communities and organizations, catalyzing grassroots human rights education and fostering long-term impact.
