University of Southern Denmark Danish Government Scholarship 2026 (Funded)

Application is invited to apply for the University of Southern Denmark Danish Government Scholarship 2026, a highly competitive Danish Government Scholarship for international students. The SDU Scholarship in Denmark is awarded to outstanding international full-degree graduate students who wish to pursue a Master’s degree in Denmark, one of Europe’s most innovative and student-friendly study destinations.

The University of Southern Denmark (SDU) offers the Danish Government Scholarship, supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science Denmark, to selected international applicants in recognition of the significant academic, cultural, and economic contribution that overseas students studying in Denmark bring during their education. This Denmark fully funded or partially funded master’s scholarship makes studying in Northern Europe more accessible for high-achieving students worldwide.

Danish Government Scholarship

The University of Southern Denmark offers the Danish Government Scholarship – supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and Science- to certain applicants in recognition of the significant investment overseas students make during their education.

The scholarship consists of two parts: a full tuition fee waiver and a grant to help cover living costs amounting to DKK 3000 per month before taxes. 

Who can get the scholarship?

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be a non-EU/EEA citizen enrolling in one of the following Master’s programs in Sønderborg with a program starting in September:

The scholarships will be awarded to the best-qualified of the eligible applicants. All eligible applicants who are offered a study place will automatically be considered for the scholarship. No separate application is needed.

The Faculty of Engineering has the possibility to award highly qualified applicants to other programs in Sønderborg for a scholarship as well.

NOTE: If you are eligible to receive the Danish State Grant, you cannot be considered for the scholarship. 

Selection criteria

The scholarships are awarded to the best-qualified candidates based on the grade point average of their Bachelor’s degree.

To be considered for the scholarship, all necessary documentation must be present on your application at the time of submission, to make sure that we can process your application.

We need:

  • Official Bachelor’s transcripts and diploma in English, Danish, Swedish, or Norwegian – must include grades and units/credits for each course
  • Course descriptions for the courses on your transcripts
  • Proof of English language proficiency

How To Apply

To be considered for the scholarship you simply apply for admission to one or more of the relevant programmes. No separate scholarship application is needed.

Your application must include:

  • Application deposit fee receipt
  • Official Bachelor’s transcripts and diploma in English, Danish, Swedish or Norwegian – must include grades and ECTS/units/credits for each course
  • Course descriptions for the courses on your transcripts (verified)
  • Self-assessment form (Electronics and Mechatronics)
  • Proof of English language proficiency

Please note: All documents must be uploaded to your online application at the time of application. We do not accept any documents sent by email.

Interview

The scholarships are awarded to the best-qualified candidates based on the grade point average of your bachelor’s degree and an online interview with key persons from the master’s programme. 

You will receive an invitation to the interview by email once we have processed your application for admission. If you have applied for more than one of the programmes, the interview will be for your highest priority. 

Interviews will take place between February 19 and 27.

You will receive the invitation with short notice after February 15, so remember to check your email regularly in February. The interview consists of a few technical questions related to the entry requirements and does not require any specific preparation on your part.
