Scientific Fellowships for Master, PhD, and Medical Students
Our Scientific Fellowships offer outstanding students the chance to pursue international research projects, internships, and specialized placements—all with additional funding to enhance your study program. Fellowship Categories
Fellowship in Drug Discovery Sciences:
Designed for master’s and PhD students from all scientific disciplines—especially those in pharmacy, data science, or related fields—whose work is relevant to the pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare industries.
Fellowship for Agricultural Science:
Ideal for master’s and PhD students in scientific disciplines (including data science) engaged in fundamental or applied research related to the Crop Science industry.
Fellowship for Medical Sciences:
Open to students of human and veterinary medicine, as well as master’s and PhD candidates in medical engineering, applied medical sciences, data science in medicine, and public health.
New! Fellowship for Climate & Health:
For students in human or veterinary medicine or master’ s/PhD candidates in natural sciences, pharmacy, public health, or epidemiology with a focus on how climate change impacts health. Special emphasis is placed on the health of women and other vulnerable populations, cardio-renal health, neglected tropical diseases, and respiratory health.
Each of these fellowships is eligible for up to €10,000 in funding, with placements lasting up to six months. Applicants studying in Germany must undertake placements abroad, while those studying outside Germany have the opportunity to work at a German research institution.

Fellowships for Early Career and Specialized Professional Development
Bayer Foundation-Lindau Fellowship for Early Career Academic Researchers
This fellowship is a rare opportunity for early career scientists to engage directly with Nobel laureates at the renowned Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting. Each year, we support 20 researchers from around the globe to experience unmatched scientific exchange and networking with leading industry figures and Nobel Prize winners.
Fellowship for STEM Student Teachers & Teachers
Designed specifically for educators shaping the next generation of STEM leaders, this fellowship is available exclusively to those currently working or studying in Germany. Whether you’re a trainee teacher, a newly qualified educator, or a teacher from a primary or special needs school, you can receive up to €10,000 in funding for internships, research projects, training, summer schools, and more—all over a period of up to twelve months.
Fellowship for Apprentices & Early Career Professionals
For talented apprentices, dual students, or early career professionals without a university degree (with less than five years of employment), our fellowship program is crafted to bring diverse perspectives to science. This opportunity supports internships, research projects, personal development—including language courses—and further training. We especially welcome applications from parents and individuals with German as a second language. Funding is available up to €10,000 for a fellowship duration of up to twelve months.
