ECUST Scholarship In China 2025 (Fully Funded)

Ⅰ. Qualifications for Applicants

To be eligible for admission and scholarships at ECUST, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Nationality and Health:
   • Hold a valid foreign passport and be in good health.
2. Educational Background:
   • For Master’s Programs: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
   • For Ph.D. Programs: Master’s degree or equivalent.
3. Language Requirements:
   • Chinese-taught Programs:
     • HSK 5 score of 210 or HSK 6 score of 180.
     • Exemptions apply to those with degrees from Chinese-taught programs at Chinese universities.
   • English-taught Programs:
     • TOEFL 80 / IELTS 6.0 / Duolingo 105.
     • Applicants can also provide proof of previous degrees taught in English. Native English speakers are exempt from this requirement.

Ⅱ. Application Deadlines

• Scholarship Program Deadline: February 28, 2025
• Self-Sponsored Program Deadline: June 15, 2025

Note: ECUST only offers admission for the Fall Semester.

Ⅳ. Application Procedures

Follow these steps to complete your application:

1. Online Application:
   • Visit the ECUST online application system, register, and submit all required documents.
   • If applying for scholarships, upload the relevant scholarship application forms.
   • Note: Submit only one application. Multiple scholarship forms can be uploaded, but only one scholarship will be granted upon selection.
2. Application Fee:
   • Fee: 600 CNY.
   • Pay online or transfer to the ECUST official bank account.
   • Upload the remittance receipt in the system.
   • Important: Applications without payment are invalid. The application fee is non-refundable.

Ⅴ. Scholarship Programs

ECUST offers two main types of scholarships:

1. Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS)

Type A: Bilateral Program and Other Specialized Programs

• Includes ASEAN-China Young Leaders Scholarship (ACYLS), EU Program, AUN Program, and China-Africa Friendship Program.
• Application Steps:
  1. Apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study in your home country.
  2. Contact the College of International Education to obtain a Pre-Admission Notice.
  3. Visit the CGS Information Management System and select “East China University of Science and Technology” (Institution Code: 10251).
  4. Submit documents to the dispatching authorities before the deadline.

Type B: High-Level Postgraduate Program and Belt and Road Program

Submit the application directly through the CGS Information Management System using ECUST’s agency number (10251).

2. Shanghai Government Scholarship (SGS)

Apply through the Shanghai Government Scholarship Online Application System.

Note: For CGS-Type A, check your home country’s dispatching authority for specific details. Information about CGS-Type B and SGS will be updated on the ECUST website.

Ⅵ. Application Checklist

Ensure you have the following documents ready:

Passport Copy: Valid until September 1, 2026, or beyond.

Graduation and Degree Certificates: Highest education level. Prospective graduates must provide proof of current study status and expected graduation date.

Transcripts: Academic records from undergraduate or graduate studies.

Language Proficiency: HSK, TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores.

Acceptance Letter: Upload if requested by the specific school.

Recommendation Letters: Two letters from professors or associate professors. Letters must be issued after September 1, 2024, and include the referee’s title, institution, contact information, email, and signature.

Study Plan: At least 800 words. Include a detailed research proposal if available.

Supporting Documents: Published papers, awards, certificates, etc.

Non-Criminal Record Certificate: Alternatively, sign a Non-Criminal Record Affirmation.

Statement of Financial Support.

Foreigner Physical Examination Form: Must include all items, physician’s signature, hospital stamp, and a sealed photo.

Note: Only documents in Chinese or English are accepted. Provide notarized translations if necessary.

Ⅶ. Evaluation and Admission

1. Selection Process:
   • ECUST follows a fair and transparent “application evaluation” process.
   • Check your application status via the ECUST online system.
2. Review Stages:
   • Preliminary review by the College of International Education.
   • Academic review by the relevant department (status: awaiting academic review).
3. Results:
   • The list of admitted scholarship students will be published on the ECUST website before July 15, 2025.
   • Admitted students will receive an Admission Notice and Visa Application Form.

Ⅷ. Important Precautions

Authenticity: Ensure all information and documents are accurate. False documents will lead to disqualification.

Visa Application: After paying tuition fees, ECUST will provide the necessary documents for a study visa.

Single Enrollment Rule: Students cannot enroll in two universities simultaneously.

Registration Deadline: Failure to register on time will result in loss of student status and scholarship eligibility.
