Financial Coverage

MEXT Japan Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship that allows international students to study in Japan for free. All expenses will be borne by the Japanese Government.

General Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must have the nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan.
• A candidate who has Japanese nationality at the time of application is not eligible.
• Candidates, in principle, must have been born as of April 2, 1985.
• Master’s Course: Candidates who have completed 16 years of school education in countries other than Japan.
• Doctoral Course: Candidates who have completed 18 years of school education in countries other than Japan.
