ITU Netherlands Fully Funded Summer School Program 2026

This summer school is meticulously designed to introduce participants to sustainable digital transformation through comprehensive subtopics, including emerging digital technologies, digital farming, and e-waste management.

Participants will gain proficiency in digital transformation and sustainability terminology through engaging lectures and interactive sessions. Additionally, they will delve into academic literature covering areas such as emerging digital technologies, sustainable agriculture, digital farming, e-waste management, and the convergence of Artificial Intelligence and sustainability.

Thanks to the generous support of the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative, selected applicants can participate in this training free of charge. This offer includes accommodation, meals, and extracurricular activities. However, participants or their organizations will need to cover travel expenses to Maastricht, Netherlands, and any necessary visa application costs. Participants or their organizations are responsible for the costs of travel to and from their home country, as well as visa expenses and insurance.

Target Audience: This summer school serves as an introductory training course targeted at government officials and policymakers working in digital transformation and sustainability on a global scale.

The course is limited to 30 participants.

Entry Requirements Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: A completed BSc or BA (or equivalent) in Social Sciences (Economics, Public Policy) or a related discipline (e.g., Engineering, Political Science).
  • Language: Fluency in English.
  • Job Profile and Country: Applicants must work on topics related to digital transformation or sustainability. Government officials and policymakers from developing countries are highly encouraged to apply. Employees from public, private, and non-governmental entities involved in digital development and technology are also eligible.
  • Diversity: Gender balance and geographic diversity will be considered.

Selection will be made by the course organizers based on the entry requirements, application questionnaire analysis, and the recommendation/motivation letter of each applicant.

Learning Objectives Upon completing this course, participants will:

Apply essential jargon necessary for discussing digital transformation issues.

Describe the impact of digital transformation on the economy and society.

Identify sector-specific sources of digital transformation and compare their practical and policy implications.

Integrate insights from digital transformation into their workplace contexts.

Financial Support Available Supported by the European Union’s Global Gateway initiative, ITU will cover training costs, accommodation for five nights, meals, and training activities for the selected participants.
