Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Tasmania Postgraduate Research Scholarship for International Students 2024/25, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Applicants must be international students who wish to apply for a postgraduate course in an eligible area at the University of Tasmania for the 2020/21 academic session.

Scholarship applicants must have earned good grades from a recognized university in relevant courses.

Applicants must be willing to abide by the rules and regulations governing student conduct at the university.

Candidates must demonstrate strong leadership skills and be able to communicate effectively in the English language.

Scholarship Coverage

There are two main Scholarships open by the University of Tasmania. Scholarships from the Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) and the Tasmania Graduate Research Scholarship (TGRS).

RTP Stipend Rate: Full-time candidates will receive a stipend of AUD$ 31,500 per year, which is non-taxable (2026 rate, subject to annual indexation). The stipend rate for subsequent years remains the same as the preceding year, adjusted by the method outlined in Part 5-6 of the Higher Education Support Act 2003.

Scholarships from the University of Tasmania, Australia, will cover all expenses for the duration of the scholarship. The scholarship will not be extended in any case.
