American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship 2025 (Fully Funded)

Application is invited to apply for the American University Emerging Global Leader Scholarship in USA 2025. The AU Emerging Global Leader Scholarship promotes access and educational opportunities while increasing international diversity. Bringing together the best of AU – academic excellence, leadership development, and global engagement.

This is a fully-funded scholarship and cover all student expense including university tuition fees. The AU EGL is dedicated to positive civic and social change and will return home to improve under-resourced, underserved communities in their home country.

American University is a private research university in Washington, D.C. Its main campus occupies 90 acres on the former Fort Gaines site at Ward Circle in the Spring Valley neighborhood in the northwest district.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Emerging Leaders Scholarship at American University, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Scholarship applicants must be international students who have overcome various obstacles and challenges, as well as those from diverse and under-represented socioeconomic backgrounds.

Candidates must have a minimum of 3.8 GPA equivalent to 4.0 GPA (or among the top 10% in class) from 9 to 12. A demonstrated commitment to leadership, volunteering, community service, and advancing the needs of people in their home country.

Students with one of the following: 95+ TOEFL iBT (all scores must be over 20 years old); Paper TOEFL sub-scores of more than 24 (taken after May 31, 2017); 7.0+ IELTS (all subpoints must be 6.0 or higher); 33 Minimum SAT reading score; 29 English ACT minimum; Minimum PTE of 65; More than 120 Duolingo.

Scholarship Worth

The AU EGL scholarship covers all UA billable expenses (full tuition, room, and Accommodation) for an international student who will need a visa (preferably an F-1 or J-1 student visa) to study in the United States.

The grant does not cover non-billable expenses, such as compulsory health insurance, books, airline tickets, and miscellaneous expenses (approximately $ 4,000 per year).

How to apply

Applicants must complete the AU EGLS online application and also submit their official TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English test results by December 2024.

Submit official English proficiency score reports directly to American University admissions.

Applicants must also complete and submit the Common Application or the Coalition Application, along with all supporting documents per the checklist, within the AU EGLS priority deadline.

Students who do not submit a complete application packet with all supporting documents before the deadline will not be reviewed.
