One of the most impressive countries in Eastern Europe, the Czech Republic, is also a top study destination for international students, with around 44,000 of them currently studying at its universities. There are many advantages associated with choosing the Czech Republic for higher education. The Government of the Czech Republic offers scholarships annually as part of its Foreign Development Assistance Program. These so-called government scholarships support students from developing countries who want to study at public universities in the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic offers scholarships in both Czech (in master’s programs) and in English (in accompanying master’s and doctoral programs). Applicants can also receive funding for a one-year-long language and preparatory course. Scholarships for study programs in the English language are granted only in the selected study programs.

Top Universities in the Czech Republic

There are around 70 higher education institutions in the Czech Republic, of which two-thirds are private. Five of the universities were included in the QS World University Rankings. These are Charles University, Czech University in Prague, Masaryk University, Brno University of Technology, and Palacký University in Olomouc.
