Do you have great ideas about how to promote democracy in your community? Then be ready to apply for Hurford Youth Democracy Leadership Exchange Program 2023. The Hurford Youth Fellowship is open for all applicants worldwide to build leadership skills and harness the potential of a young democracy.
Through the Program, young activists spend three months in the Secretariat of the World Movement for Democracy, during which they expand their global connections, share experiences with other activists of democratic movements around the world and contribute to the development of the World Movement for Democracy and World Youth.
Upon successful completion of each fellowship, fellows act as a regional/national focal point, working with the Hurford Youth Fraternity Alumni Network to stay involved and lead the activities of the World Youth Movement.

Eligibility Criteria
Please note that applicants are eligible from any country with any nationality. Applicants interested in the Hurford Youth Fellows Program must not be over the age of 30.
They must demonstrate a strong interest in democratic activism and the advancement of democracy in their communities and throughout the world. Young people affiliated with civil society organizations are particularly encouraged to apply.
Knowledge of English is an important prerequisite for participating in the program for general communication purposes.
Financial Coverage
Hurford Youth Fellowship Program is a fully-funded international youth exchange program. The scholarship will cover all expenses during the duration of the program, such as:
- Each fellow will receive a monthly scholarship for housing expenses
- Health plan
- Round-trip airfare tickets to and from Washington, D.C.
- Fellows have a fully equipped office, which includes Internet and email access, and a limited budget for fellowship-related long-distance phone calls.
