Application is open to apply for the National Institute of Genetics NIG summer internship in Japan in 2025. This is a fully funded summer internship for international students in Japan. The most interesting thing is that there is no requirement for IELTS or TOEFL and no application fees. A passport is also not required at the NIG application stage.
The National Institute of Genetics is a Japanese research institute founded in 1949. The Japan internship will run from June 13– July 24, 2025. Applicant from all over the world is eligible for the Japan NIG summer internship program. The NIG internship duration is almost 6 weeks.
Bachelor’s and master’s students are eligible and highly encouraged to apply for an internship in Japan. All student expenses and costs in Japan will cover by the Paid NIG internship program. For more details please read below:

Eligibility Criteria
Students must fulfill the following requirements for the National Institute of Genetics Japan summer internship.
All international students are welcome for a fully funded Japan internship in 2025. Bachelor’s and Master’s students are eligible.
A student currently enrolled in the 3rd year of a 4-year bachelor’s Program OR the 2nd year of a 3-year Bachelor’s program OR the 4th year of a 5-year bachelor’s program is eligible.

Financial Coverage
NIGINTERN Internship 2025 is a fully-funded international paid internship program in Japan for international students. All student expenses will cover by the Japan NIG internship 2025.
- Economy class round air ticket.
- Domestic travel expense from airport to NIG center.
- Free accommodation will be given at the NIG guesthouse.
- Complete travel insurance during the internship period.
- Meal allowance up to 1,500 JPY/day.
Internships Period
June 13– July 24, 2025
NIG covers expenses for the designated period only. Requests for shorter or longer periods will not be considered.
For any internship opportunity other than this program, please contact your potential host PI(s). In such cases, costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation,n and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
