Scholarship Benefits:

There are 3 awards available, one from the Steve Weston Scholarship fund and 2 from Trust Scholarships.
The awards will offer each candidate:

• Payment of academic tuition fees (fees for 2023-24 to be confirmed)
• 12 monthly stipends for living expenses for a single student (£12,600 over 12 monthly payments at £1,050 per month)
• An arrival allowance (£750) and thesis/internship report allowance (£580)

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants who wish to apply for this scholarship must meet several eligibility requirements. Firstly, they must have completed an Honours degree in Law, Economics, Geology, Petroleum, Mining Engineering, or Finance, with a minimum classification of 2:1 or above.

However, the scholarship committee may also consider applicants with different academic backgrounds if they can explain their motivations for pursuing the relevant LLM program and demonstrate any relevant legal work experience.

Additionally, applicants must hold an offer for either the LLM in International Mineral Law and Policy or LLM in International Oil and Gas Law and Policy program, starting in September 2023. They must also satisfy the University of Dundee’s English language requirements.

Moreover, successful applicants must demonstrate intellectual ability and leadership potential, with a track record of proven achievements and the potential to rise to positions of influence. While it is preferable for applicants to be qualified lawyers, the scholarship committee may also consider applicants with post-degree work experience in energy or natural resource development in the government, private sector, or academia.

Finally, it is a requirement that scholarship recipients complete their LLM degree program within 12 months. Students from overseas are expected to return to their home country at the end of their period of study. By meeting these eligibility requirements, applicants will be considered for this prestigious scholarship and the valuable opportunities it provides.

How to Apply

If you are interested in applying for the Steve Weston Scholarship for the full-time LLM in Mineral Law and Policy/LLM in International Oil and Gas Law programs, you do not need to submit a separate application form.
