Application is invited to apply for Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) in Canada 2024 for international students. The Candian scholarship for foreign students was named after Major-General Georges P. Vanier, the first francophone Governor General of Canada.
The aim of the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) program helps Canadian institutions attract highly qualified Ph.D. students.
An interested student from any part of the world is eligible to apply for a Canadian Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) or Combined MA/Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. or Masters leading to Ph.D. and Ph.D. scholarships for international students in 2024.
All major fields and areas are available under doctoral scholarship in Canada. It is a fully-funded study abroad scholarship and all-expense coved by the host organization.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for Vanier Canada graduate scholarships 2024 from the Canadian government for international students, the following eligibility conditions will apply.
Applicants must be nominated by a single Canadian university, which must have received a Vanier CGS award. Applicants must not have completed more than 20 months of doctorate since May 1, 2024.
Applicants must complete their first Ph.D. (including joint undergraduate/graduate programs such as MD / Ph.D., DVM / Ph.D., JD / Ph.D. if there is a proven and significant research component). Please note that only the doctoral portion of a combined diploma is eligible for funding.
Applicants must have achieved a first-class average, as determined by their university, in each of the last two years of full-time study or equivalent. Applicants are encouraged to contact the university to establish a first-class average.
Applicants must not yet have received a Ph.D. fellowship or a CIHR, NSERC, or SSHRC scholarship to obtain or complete a Ph.D.

Vanier Scholarship Coverage
The scholarships are worth $50,000/Year. This amount is enough to give University Fees, Dormitory, and a Living allowance/Travel Allowance for 1 person for Studying in Canada.
Number of months of doctoral studies
Regardless of discipline, all prior doctoral-level studies that started in Canada or abroad, are considered in the evaluation of eligibility and are considered to be continuous, full-time, and uninterrupted unless otherwise confirmed by the institution (including the summer months, unless on official leave). The Vanier-Banting Secretariat (the Secretariat) will count two months of part-time study as one month of full-time study.
Students who studied on a part-time basis must outline their part-time studies in the Other Application material task attachment. The information also must be reflected in the transcripts.
How to apply
The scholarship application begins with an indication and can be done online through appropriate platforms.
Interested applicants must be nominated by a Canadian institution with a quota in which they wish to study. Applicants cannot apply directly to the Vanier CGS program.
