Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Cambridge

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Cambridge is delighted to announce that applications for the 2025/2026 academic year are now open!

Launched in 2022, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Cambridge is a collaborative initiative aimed at empowering over 500 talented African scholars by offering fully funded scholarships for master’s studies across a wide range of disciplines. The program will run until 2030, fostering academic excellence and leadership development.

Eligible Master’s Courses

The program supports most full-time one-year postgraduate courses, except:

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Master of Corporate Law (MCL)
  • Master of Finance

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this prestigious scholarship, candidates must:

  1. Be citizens of an African country.
  2. Reside in an African country (exceptions are made for temporary study or work absences, displaced individuals, or those with refugee status).
  3. Apply for a master’s course at the University of Cambridge (up to one year in length).
  4. Meet the academic requirements for the selected course.

Scholarship Benefits

The program offers:

  • Full tuition costs.
  • Monthly maintenance allowance.
  • A laptop.
  • Coverage for visa application fees, International Health Surcharge, and travel costs.

Deadline

5th December 2024: For courses with a December funding deadline.

5th January 2025: For courses with a January funding deadline.

How to Apply

  1. Apply for admission to your desired course at the University of Cambridge via the Postgraduate Course Directory. Ensure you meet the academic requirements for the course.
  2. Submit your application by the funding deadline:
  • 5th December 2024 for courses with a December deadline.
  • 5th January 2025 for courses with a January deadline.

Include a supplementary statement outlining your personal commitment to advancing climate resilience and sustainable futures in Africa.

Note: Students who do not meet the academic requirements for their course will not qualify for the application fee waiver.
